How We Help

Our volunteer-based team brings deep experience and empathy to every case. We go beyond basic rescue by focusing on every dog’s emotional and physical well-being during their transition.

We ensure every Pug we rescue:

  • Receives full veterinary care
  • Is up to date on all vaccinations
  • Has a registered microchip
  • Is spayed or neutered
  • Tests negative for heartworm

We also work with dogs to address insecurity and behavioral challenges that can result from abandonment or unstable environments. Our goal is not just adoption—but successful, lasting placement.

The Joy of Rescue

Our adopters often tell us that their lives are changed by their new companions. Adopters become part of the Tiny Paws Pug Rescue community. We host regular monthly Pug Meet-Ups throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the Central Coast, where new and veteran Pug parents connect, socialize, and share joy.

What Makes Us Different

Optimism and Respect Over Negativity

We don’t dwell on the dark side of rescue. We face challenges daily—neglect, poor medical care, irresponsible breeding—but our focus is on solutions and empowerment.

Breed-Specific Education

Our deep understanding of Pugs allows us to educate future owners on what to expect, how to care for the breed, and how to support their new family member for life.

A Forever Safety Net

Life changes. We get it. That’s why we promise every adopter: if your life ever changes, we will take the Pug back, no matter how many years have passed. That’s our lifetime commitment.

National Advocacy Through Partnership

We are proud to be a network partner of Best Friends Animal Society, a national leader in rescue and animal welfare advocacy. In addition, we work with local rescues across the country to place our rescues.. We join in partnership with other rescues to educate and participate in initiatives that promote legislation, shelter reform, and better lives for all animals in the USA.

Building a Wider Impact

Our reach goes beyond state borders. We proudly support out-of-state adoptions to reduce California’s homeless animal population. Our dogs have found forever homes in 32 states across the nation in , Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Our Progress

Since our inception in 2016, our impact has grown significantly. In 2024 alone, we rescued 268 dogs, and our rescue count continues to increase by an average of 23% each year. We host events each month to merchant spaces upon request. These events not only drive adoption but also educate the public about responsible pet ownership and the joys of Pugs.
