Doug & Dory

The new story of doug & Dory

In case you haven’t heard, we are thrilled to announce that our sweet Dory, who was found wandering an open field in the Bay Area, has been adopted by the family of world-renowned Doug the Pug! As a beloved social media sensation and a dedicated advocate for pet adoption, Doug the Pug and his family have welcomed Dory into their home with open arms, and it seems like this precious pair is already bonding:

“So far they love napping together, taking walks, and Doug is very relieved that Dory doesn’t want to steal his Lamby. For all she’s been through in life, Dory is a fearless and sweet girl and we feel so lucky that she’s here.”

This success story underscores the life-saving impact of pet adoption and it’s the reason we work tirelessly to ensure every pug and pug mix has a chance at a happy, healthy life.

At Tiny Paws Pug Rescue, we are committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming pugs and pug mixes from high-kill shelters, especially in our home state of California. Our mission is to save lives while advocating for animal rescue and adoption. However, the reality is that many shelters around the country are overwhelmed, and countless dogs are at risk of euthanasia simply due to a lack of space.

By adopting dogs out of state, like Dory's adoption, we can provide these precious animals with loving homes while reducing pressure on local shelters. Tiny Paws is proud to have seen 50% more pugs adopted out-of-state so far this year, compared to 2023 - but we need your help to continue our life-saving work. Last year alone, we rescued 247 dogs, and our growing rescue efforts have also led to increased expenses. Bringing dogs to their new families is a costly endeavor, and logistical, medical, and veterinary costs consume a significant portion of our budget. Additionally, transporting these dogs to their new homes (sometimes across the country - we flew with Dory from sunny California all the way to her new home in Nashville, Tennesee!) requires reliable vehicles and significant travel time.

How you can help

With your generous support, we can:

  1. Provide Basic Medical Care - From spaying/neutering to vaccination costs, there is always a need for contributions towards our general medical costs. On average, our vetting cost per pug is $1,300, with some emergency cases costing up to $16,000. We want our pugs to be healthy!
  2. Ensure Access to Emergency Medical Care - When we find a pug that has been abused or neglected, there are usually urgent medical concerns that require prompt action, often including costly surgeries or procedures that cannot be delayed. Your support in this area helps guarantee that we can get each and every dog the customized care they need.
  3. Fund National and Out-Of-State Adoptions - Adopting our pugs to families out-of-state can often be the best way to reduce the pressure our local shelters experience, but it comes with many additional costs that traditional adoptions do not need, including transportation and logistical costs. Your support can be instrumental in placing more pugs in homes across the country.
